About us
Since forming DSTO has developed from exclusively training door supervisors to a multi-faceted operation offering a wide range of training courses within the security, retail, professional and hospitality industries. We are specialist in tailoring your training needs into bespoke courses for both management and staff, that can be delivered throughout the UK.
We were instrumental in the development of the National Certificate for Door Supervisors qualification and received an Outstanding Training Partnership Award at the SITO National Training Awards 2003 for our involvement with the Security Industry Authority (SIA).

Many things have changed since 1997, but one thing that has always been, and will continue to remain the same is our dedication to provide exceptional service and good quality training in all aspects of our business.
DSTO continues to lead the market in SIA Door Supervisor, CCTV Operator & Security Guard training courses. This is due to the extensive industry knowledge of our management team and the quality of our training instructors.
Our continued success has been due to our belief that training should prepare the student for the reality of the job, rather than just how to pass an exam. So we only use quality trainers who have a wealth of sector experience.
We pride ourselves on our knowledge of the industry. We pay attention to detail and strive to ensure that our customers get the right training for their needs. We like to be judged on our complete service to our customers, so we place a high degree of importance on all aspects of this function. Meet Our Team
Lesley Stephenson
Director/OwnerLesley has been involved with DSTO since it started training local Door Supervisors in Bournemouth in 1998. Subsequently she has seen the company grow into a national operator offering a range of industry related qualifications. Lesley also owns a retail shop selling work clothing, Head2 toe and in 2013 was nominated and won the Venus Online Business of the Year Award for Dorset.

Adrian Stephenson
DirectorAdrian has been involved with DSTO since it started training local Door Supervisors in Bournemouth in 1998. Subsequently he has seen the company grow into a national operator offering a range of Security/Leisure industry related qualifications. He is passionate about customer service and helping people to achieve their ambitions.
Outside of the work environment Adrian is a keen triathlete and also loves to spend time playing guitar.
Kate Stephenson
DirectorKate has been a Director of DSTO since 2014 although she is more actively involved with Head 2 Toe Work-wear where she has worked since 2011 and manages the daily running of the shop. Although her main role is with Head 2 Toe she is enthusiastic about expanding both businesses while maintaining the customer service they have worked hard to achieve over the years. She loves to work with people – most of the time!
Kate is currently studying and will soon achieve her NVQ level 5 in Business Management and Leadership after that who knows! In her free time she loves beach walks, reading and a gin and tonic (not necessarily in that order!)
Eddie Sidaway
Senior TrainerEddie has worked in the security industry since 1999 in a wide range of positions and his extensive experience makes him a much sought after trainer by our corporate clients.
He holds a Close Protection license and is also a fully registered martial arts instructor with the British Combat Association. Eddie builds confidence in the trainees through a strong self introduction. Delegates naturally pick up on this confidence level, making them both respectful and ready to listen.
Thomas Jenkerson
Site ManagerThe youngest member of the company, Thomas began working with DSTO while studying Website Development and Social Media at College and continued working after he’d completed his courses. He currently manages multiple websites and helps with our online presence, In his free time he enjoys tabletop boardgames and skateboarding
