Below are a selection of our most asked questions regarding our security courses. This list is by no means comprehensive, so if you can’t find the answer your looking for feel free to give us a call on 01202 299 969 and we’ll be more than happy to talk to you.
Do I have to pay before the course starts?
We must receive full payment BEFORE the first day of the course to secure your place. Places are allocated when payment is made.
Do I need to bring ID? If so what do I need to bring?
You will be required to produce proof of identity for the course and examinations. If you do not bring ID then you will not be able to sit the examination. You will be required to produce at least two forms of ID such as a Passport or Driving License as well as some form of proof of address, such as a bank statement.
I do not have the correct ID. Can I still take the course?
No. This is a requirement for all our courses and the examinations/assessments.
I have a criminal record. Can I still get a licence?
The SIA will check your criminal record history for the last 5 years. If you have any convictions they will ask you to explain the circumstances and the SIA will decide whether to grant you a licence. Convictions within the last 12 months relating to violence, deception or theft are not usually considered acceptable. For more information, please visit the SIA website here.
Is the cost of an SIA licence included in the price of the course? And can you help me apply?
No. The cost of an SIA licence is currently £220 per licence. Discounts do apply for additional sector licences such as CCTV. While we can advise you on the application process, we are unable to provide you with any assistance.
I have not lived in the country for the last 5 years. Is this a problem?
The SIA will check you address history for the time that you have lived in the UK but you must supply a police check form the country that you lived in previously to make up the full 5 years.
Can I cancel my booking before the course begins?
Yes you can. However, if you cancel between 14 and 7 days before the start of the course you will loose 50% of your booking fee. If you cancel within 7 days of the start of the course, we will be unable to refund any of your booking fee.
